Neon Coast is an unofficial, fan made app. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or associated with Rockstar Games, Take-Two Interactive, or any of their subsidiaries.
Short version: there are no accounts, no sign up, and no advertising or analytics software of any kind in this app. We do not know who you are, and we have no way to find out.
The one exception is the launch waitlist on our website, which is separate from the app and covered in its own section below.
What stays on your device
These never leave your phone and are deleted when you delete the app:
- The cheats you have saved
- Your theme, accent colour, and layout density settings
- A random install id (see below)
What leaves your device
Two things, both listed here in full.
| Data | When | Why |
| Anonymous install id |
Only when you upvote a cheat or a community post |
To stop the same device voting twice. It is 32 random characters generated on your phone, tied to nothing else, and a new one is created if you reinstall the app. |
| Push token |
Only if you allow notifications |
So we can send you an alert when major news drops. It identifies a device, not a person. |
The launch waitlist (website only)
If you join the waitlist on our website, we store:
- Your email address, to send you one email when the app launches
- Which phone you picked (iPhone, Android, or both), so we only tell you about the store you use
- The site or link that sent you, such as a referral tag, so we know which posts work
- A one-way hash of your IP address, used only to block spam signups. We never store the address itself.
The list is stored with Supabase and is never sold, shared, or used for advertising. We delete it within six months of launch. To be removed sooner, email us from the address you signed up with.
What we never collect
- Your name, email address, or phone number inside the app
- Your location, contacts, photos, or files
- Advertising identifiers, and no tracking of you across other apps or websites
- Any third party analytics. There is no analytics, attribution, or advertising software in this app at all.
Who else is involved
- Supabase hosts the database that stores the news feed, the countdown, vote counts, and push tokens.
- Expo operates the push notification service that relays alerts to Apple, if you have notifications turned on.
- Apple distributes the app and delivers notifications to your device.
- News websites you choose to open. Neon Coast stores only a headline, an image reference, and a link, never the text of an article. Tapping an article opens the publisher's own site, where the publisher's privacy policy applies, not ours.
How long we keep things
A push token is kept until you turn notifications off or delete the app, after which it stops working and is removed. A vote record is kept as long as the cheat or post exists, and is keyed only to that random install id.
Your choices
- Notifications: turn them off any time in iOS Settings, under Neon Coast. No token means no alerts, and nothing further is stored.
- Everything on device: deleting the app removes your saved cheats, settings, and install id.
- Deletion request: email us and we will remove your push token. Votes cannot be traced back to you even by us, because the install id is random and is stored with nothing that identifies a person, so there is no record of yours for us to look up.
Children
Neon Coast is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect anything from them. Since we collect no personal information from anyone, there is nothing of a child's to collect.
Changes
If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of this page. Meaningful changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
